Music Therapy Makes a Difference
The Music Medicine Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the proposition that music therapy – the clinical and evidenced-based use of music interventions to accomplish individual goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program – can effectively enhance the quality of life of persons with acute or chronic illness through the collaboration between music and medicine.
Founded by Elizabeth Jacobi, Ph.D., RMT, FAMI, the Music Medicine Institute provides music therapy clinical care services; organizes, staffs and manages music therapy programs for a varie
ty of healthcare organizations; trains and educates healthcare providers and lay persons in the therapeutic use of music in medical treatment; conducts research; and promotes the advancement of music therapy as an adjunct to professional medical care.
This site is intended for use by medical professionals, hospital and healthcare management, patients suffering from chronic illnesses and their families, prospective and certified music therapists, and educational institutions. We hope it meets your needs.
